family Ministry for Students

Grades 6-12 and their Families

The Family Ministry for Students at Highland Oaks centers around the discipleship habits of the TABLE. We share delicious home cooked meals together, grow in friendship, and train to listen to God’s Word in the world around us. As a place of refuge, our church empowers students and their families to grow into the transformative story of Jesus, crucified and resurrected.

At Highland Oaks A Church of Christ, your student will feel accepted within the wider church body as they develop relationships with our adult mentors and participate in weekly Sunday worship services by offering their own unique gifts. The size of our church allows you and your student to be seen and loved by an affectionate congregation that welcomes you as you are. At Highland Oaks, you belong before you have the “correct” belief, and through these relationships, you become who God calls you to be.

Come visit and consider contributing to the story of a long-historied congregation that has become a center for growing disciples that transform their surroundings through prayer and reconciliation. Walk alongside us as we go out and shape the communities where we live, attend school, and work.

Meet Austin Holt

Family Minister for Students
Meet our Family Minister for Students, Austin Holt. Austin is a full-time firefighter with plenty of life experience and a deep love for teenagers and their families.

Austin is an ACU graduate with a Bachelors in Biblical Text (’11) and a Masters in New Testament (’15). Austin has a passion for inviting students and their families to participate in the story of Scripture through joyful study and community building events. Austin is happy to support your student by coming to their extracurricular events and visiting them during the week. Austin and his wife Amber would love to cook for you and have your family over to their home in Mesquite.

Please let Austin walk alongside your family and disciple your teen as a full participant in our church body at HOCC as we work together to send your student into adulthood, knowing they are loved.
